Correctly understanding and following God’s Word is the only way to your final reward, and those who stray are doomed to lead a cruel life after death. One of those paths is through belonging to a church where the literal interpretation of the Bible is observed, like the one fictionalized in The Starling Girl. Removing the judgment that comes with a lack of understanding and putting aside some of the shock and awe meant to accompany these programs, I’ve appreciated getting these glimpses into a different way of finding a path forward in spirituality or family.

Review: Over the last several years, there have been several documentaries and limited series across streaming services that have taken eager viewers behind the scenes into religious communities, unveiling practices that may seem foreign, strange, or wrong to an outsider. But everything changes when her magnetic youth pastor Owen returns to their church. Eliza survives the episode in reality.Synopsis: 17-year-old Jem Starling struggles with her place within her Christian fundamentalist community. Sydney had been bleeding in a similar manner after committing suicide by drinking drain cleaner. In the next episode, it's shown that Amy hallucinated Eliza's body she was likely recalling being traumatized when she found Sydney Sweeney's body years earlier. Her body is discovered by a horrified Amy Adams. Sharp Objects: Ripe (2018) : At the end of the episode, Eliza is very briefly shown lying dead in a shed in the woods, bleeding from her nose and mouth.Her body is shown again after Alex Wolff sees her. Old (2021) : Falls to her death after becoming unconscious while climbing a cliff.The Devil All the Time (2020) : Accidentally hanged herself as her leg slipped off the bucket she was standing on, just after thinking not to commit suicide.Little Women (2019) : Dies (off-screen) of heart failure due to her heart being weakened by a previous bout of scarlet fever her death is revealed when her sister ( Saoirse Ronan) wakes up and sees Eliza's bed empty, then goes downstairs to find their mother ( Laura Dern) crying.She previously tried to have Toby Wallace kill her by strangling her and smothering her with a pillow (which all obviously fail). Her lifeless body is later discovered by her mother ( Essie Davis) the next morning.
